Should I select XERO as my accounting software?

When you start up a new business there are a lot of different aspects to consider. Over and above products, price, location, employees, premisses and marketing decisions you also need to decide on appointing an accountant and which accounting system to use.

What is the best accounting system to use?

There is no “easy” answer to this question. The accounting needs of each business is different and there is more than one solution that will work well for a business. It is advised to have your accountant to assist you in this decision since you will need to work with this system for years to come. Although it is possible to change to a new system this may be expensive, and you would also need to learn the new system.

Why is XERO a good system to consider?

XERO is a cloud-based system. The main advantages of this is that you do not need to be concerned about backing up your data, having multiple versions of the truth or ensuring you have the correct hardware for the system. Since you access the system through your web browser you have access to it if you have access to the internet.

XERO have the flexibility of multiple add on programs that can address specific requirements your business has. These Apps are developed by third parties and there are multiple options to address any specific requirements.

Should I change over to XERO?

In any business environment you need to consider your systems and process from time to time to consider if they are still the most appropriate solution for your business. Changing over to XERO may be a good option, but rather obtain advise from your accountant to determine if there are tangible benefits in making the change.

What support is there for XERO?

XERO is a growing accounting system and provides continuous training to the accounting profession. They keep a register of XERO Certified Advisors, so you know that if you use any of these that they have sufficient knowledge to assist you.
